Northwest got hit with another really bad storm.

Poor Seattle and Portland. They have really had it this year. I think they had beaten the 1935 record for rainfall after the bad storm last month. And they have been hit again. Terrible winds and rain.

I wish there was some way to tell if this is really global warming or just a fluke thing. Guess we will just have to wait to see.

3. November '06 rain IS the new record for Seattle and

The winds last night may have set some records of their own. Trees in the area were at a disadvantage because of the still soggy soil so there were a lot of them blown down. This caused massive power outages, upward of 1.5 million residences lost power. Quite a few DUers endured that storm and I am sure each has a tale to tell. Many are yet without power though. I am one of those who endured that storm, I was online right here in the lounge as it played out. I admit that I was a very worried chknltl last night...I have been through quite a few storms here and an even bigger one over in Germany back in '72 but that one was the first one ever to scare me.

4. Some of the trees on our lawn looked like rubber-bands..

My room was shaking for awhile. I live in a really shitty old house. My sister in Eugene said things got bad, but, only a few thousand lost power there.

5. The news says 1.5 million out of power - is that right?

I have a cousin in Seattle and an aunt in Olympia. I'm worried about them.
