I just watched Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith (spoilers) |
|
Okay so I'm probably the last person on earth to watch the damn thing.... I'm trying to introduce my 10 year old to the Star Wars series and I hadn't watched any of the more recent movies. We started at number 1 where Annakin is a young boy.
Oh. My. Gawd. When they put that mask on Annakin, shit, I just bawled. That poor kid....
We're having a Star Wars weekend where we try to watch all of the rest of them by Sunday night. She's upstairs getting her pajamas on so we can watch number 4 where she meets young Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia and I am hopeful that I'm over the worst of the shocks, it's been at least a decade or more since I saw the first ones. I'm not sure my nervous system is going to handle another emotionally devastating ending. Wish us luck.

1. so you're showing them in order of 1-6 |
|
wonder how it plays to your daughter when they're viewed that way. I imagine it puts it all in a different perspective.

3. I know. Her perspective of it all is just going to be so different than mine. |
|
She wanted to watch them 1 - 6 instead of the order they were made. I found myself a tad bit impatient during the first three cause I wanted to compare them to my memories of the ones I saw so long ago.
They've held up pretty well actually. She is totally hooked which is a blast since I think they are really great too. It's a kick when your kids fall in love with some of the old stuff that you used to enjoy, and you can watch them again with them.
I'm thinking Rocky next.... :7

2. I thought Sith was pretty well done. |
|
Everything fell into place pretty well. I was let down by Phantom Menace, and a bit by Attack of the Clones, but Sith was redeeming.
Palpatine was as evil as he could be.

Phantom Menace left me cold, particularly after such a long wait between Jedi and the first of the new installments. It put me so off, in fact, that I didn't even bother with the Clones one. Phantom Menace was enough of CSPAN in Space without even more politics, thanks.
I think Sith and the original Star Wars (a New Hope?) are the best.

5. It seems that Phantom and Clones just sort of |

led up to Sith. Sith made me care about the characters again. That was what was magic about the original trilogy, you cared, you wanted to know what was going to happen, and how.
Hell, between Empire and Jedi, a whole two years was spent debating on whether Darth Vader was really Luke's father, or if he was lying. We cared. I was glad Sith brought that back.
