Attention Apple users! Do you use Safari or another browser?
I'm more used to Windows browsers; had Firefox on my old machine; is there a browser that works really well on MAC other than Safari?

2. Well, the Mac-tech in the house...
Suggests you stick with Firefox as the best alternative to Safari. You can find firefox 2.0 for Macs here - http://www.mozilla.org/download.html

There's also Camino and Opera for Macs. Camino reminds me of the old Netscape interface and doesn't really seem to offer any more substantive options than Safari. I haven't played around with Opera but I've heard good things about it from other users...

Hope this helps... Good luck!

3. Recently switched from Safari to Firefox
because eBay demanded it be so. I like some things better about Firefox and some things I preferred in Safari.

Haven't used Netscape in a long time and I only keep the virus known as Internet Explorer around for the few times when better browsers won't open something (such things usually not being worth opening, as it turns out).

4. You mention ebay. You switched because ebay is too slow to load?
Sorry, not a computer person. I'm a recent convert (i-book).

5. Nope, I got tired
of seeing the "update your browser" message they kept flashing me, and Firefox was the only option they gave.

Congratulations on seeing the light! :headbang:

Camino

www.caminobrowser.org

Think of it as Firefox for your mac. Firefox was originally a PC browser ported to the mac, Camino is built from the ground up for mac and therefore has better integration with the computer as a whole.

http://www.caminobrowser.org/features/

I use it on my mac and never open firefox or safari.

of the 3, camino is faster.

10. I use Safari
There are a few sites that I keep FireFox around for, but those sites are getting fewer and fewer.

11. FIREFOX
Safari is complete shit. Windows for Mac also sucks. Firefox works perfectly.

12. I use Safari.

I have had a few glitches with it, like having it quit
occasionally on my ibook, but other than that, it's OK.

Anyone else had the Safari quit on ya problem?

What to do?
( besides empty cache and reset Safari- done that)

13. I use Safari...
works fine for me. One time I had to use Firefox to put an ad on Autotrader.com.
That's the only time I've used it.

14. I use Camino, and have Firefox for the sites that require it.
Both Camino and Safari currently have far fewer security vulnerabilities identified than Firefox (and Internet Explorer, which isn't available for the Mac, of course). At the moment, Camino is rated as a bit safer than Safari, but there's not much between them. Largely, this is the result of the lower installed user-base of these browsers compared with Firefox (and the fact that the Mac version of Firefox shares many of the vulnerabilities of the PC one, which has dozens), meaning that malicious programmers haven't been targeting them.

The situation changes frequently, though, so it's worth keeping an eye on the relative security of the various browsers.

16. M$ stopped supporting IE for the Mac at version 5.
Using such an early version of IE is quite risky, since it had many security vulnerabilities that never got patched.

If I need to use IE on my Mac, I boot it into Windows and use IE 7. Only the Intel Macs can do this, though, (via Bootcamp). I wouldn't recommend using a Mac-native version of IE at all.

17. Seamonkey, Safari, and Shiira.
I prefer SeaMonkey, and mainly use that on all my machines regardless of OS.

18. I'm now using Safari 1.3.2, which seems to be very fast and stable.
I was using 1.2.1 or 1.2.2, I can't remember which, up until a couple of weeks ago, and it seemed to crash on some complex web pages. The latest version, 1.3.2, seems almost bulletproof.
