14. Oh yeah, those things are totally addictive.
This thread is a total joke. I'm a pescarian, but I am a fan of vegetarians and vegans.

Hell, I even work at a natural foods store.

I got my Irish up last night though. Complete with trading punches with an Irish roller derby chick.

11. Possibly. I don't know. Most of the people at the party were vegetarians.
Anyway, we were just play fighting. She was talking about how well she could take a hit doing Roller Derby and my friend told her I was a black belt.

So we ended up drunkenly trading punches just to see how well we could take them. It was fun. No lasting injuries.

We were just having fun, by punching each other. Anyway, we both got in and took some punches, declare each other awesome and cracked open another beer.

18. Irish party games, huh?
I begged out of that kinda game on St. Patty's day a couple years back. Good thing too, my buddies who did it were bruised from head to toe for a week.

I'm Red Irish, we're lovers not fighters.

21. Aye!
The same friends tried to coax me into the fight the following year and I told them, in all truthfulness, "My parents were married on St. Patty's day and I refuse to fight on their anniversary!"

15. LOL !!1 I just got flamed in the Vegan-IQ thread for saying HITLER was a vegan
Two posters informed me that HITLER was NOT a vegan, but one took it to another level by accusing me of spouting the HITLER-vegan deal as a WINGNUT talking point! I told that one that I was NOT in the mood for a flame war!!!1

17. Hitler was not a vegan, not even vegetarian.
While I wouldn't call it a wingnut talking point, it is definitely not only an anti-animal rights talking point, but completely erroneous, like most anti-animal rights talking points.

23. Sorry, haruka; the historical record is pretty clear: Hitler WAS a vegetarian.
Don't don't entertain any logical fallacies because of it. You know, 'Hitler was a vegetarian, therefor all vegetarians are Nazis.' That kind of thing.

His usual meal was plain spaghetti noodles, boiled vegetables, and salad. Apparently, his overindulgence in veggies led to a chronic flatulence problem that made being in his presence less than a signal honor. Albert Speer, his personal architect and wartime Minister of Armaments reported extensively on both Hitler's vegetarianism and flatulence.

or is that a vegetable?

25. It's really not that clear.
http://michaelbluejay.com/veg/hitler.html

Biographical material about Hitler suggests a contradictoriness in reports about his diet. He is often described as a vegetarian who nevertheless had a special fondness for sausages and caviar, and sometimes ham. One of his biographers, Robert Payne ("The Life and Death of Adolf Hitler) took exception to the view of Hitler as an ascetic, and said it was deliberately fostered by the Nazis to project an image of Hitler as pure and dedicated.

Wrote Payne: "Hitler's asceticism played an important part in the image he projected over Germany. According to the widely believed legend, he neither smoked nor drank, nor did he have anything to do with women.

"Only the first was true. He drank beer and diluted wine frequently, had a special fondness for Bavarian sausages, and kept a mistress... "His asceticism was a fiction invented by (Nazi propagandist Joseph) Goebbels to emphasize his total dedication, his self-control, the distance that separated him from other men..." Biographer John Toland ("Adolf Hitler"), describes Hitler's early student diet as consisting of "milk, sausage, and bread."

27. Kitchen records show he was fond of sausages and capon.
The vegetarian meals were actually prescribed by his doctors for the flatulence, an idea that cracks me up more than I can say and makes me wonder if they secretly hated him or something.

26. The term "vegan" was coined in the UK in 1944. As Hitler died in the spring of '45, we can assume he
never so much as heard the word. After all, communications between the UK and Germany were not precisely at an all-time high.

Certainly we know he wasn't any sort of vegetarian, extant records from his kitchen staff clear that up rather quickly. The idea of him as a vegetarian or something close to it was promoted in Germany at the time, likely to inflate the public perception of him as somewhat self-sacrificing and ascetic in nature.
