We saw Happy Feet Today...
It was so cute. I don't understand all the critical stuff about it. It was not propaganda. It was sweet. Steve Irwin did a voice in it, which was so appropriate. We thought it was a conservation, tree hugger movie. We laughed, we Cried, we loved it.
What did you think of it?!

3. I also heard it had a strong enviromental message
Which, if true, makes it rock even more in my book.

4. VERY Strong.
But it's not like propaganda like all the right wingers are saying. And the helicopter that helps the penguins does not have the UN on it. The UN is shown, but it's different countries arguing against protecting Antarctica. Like I said, I think Steve Irwin had a lot to do with it, so it's heavy on the conservation angle.

5. lol, you're talking to a hard-core enviromentalist
I HOPE the angle is pushed hard-- we have too many nutcases who think global warming is a myth!

6. So it wasn't scary, racist, or left-wing propaganda?
Shit, I was looking forward to that, too. x(

8. Unless saving animals that have just as much right to be here as we do...
...is left wing propaganda, then, sorry.
And I didn't get the racist angle.

10. Oh how silly!!

Sure, some of the penguins have different accents, but I thought it was good character development. Like the evil elder penguins, who represented the religious right idiots, had scottish accents. The cute little penguins who help Mumble on his way are little Mexican penguins who make alien jokes and sing mariachi. They're hilarious. And the walruses are Australian. Mumble's dad is based on Elvis and named Memphis, and his mom is based on Marilyn Monroe and named Norma Jean. I think another one is Russian. It's all sweet and diversified.
I try to stay out of those threads. I end up in trouble and someone bitching me out and overreacting.
