Is he a CHRISTIAN, and does he go to CHURCH?

I'm so sorry to any man that's going to be mine - because that was my mother's MOST IMPORTANT question to be answered regarding any possible love interest. Not what kind of a person is he? Is he kind? Intelligent? Compassionate? None of *that* matters - Is he a Christian? That's all she needs to know!

My answer? "NO! Thank God! If he were we'd have nothing in common and would likely have difficulty agreeing on anything of importance in our mutual lives. I could never be with a Christian." (going by what that means TO HER)

Jesus. That's the last thing I'd care to know about anyone in my (theoretical) child's life. In fact, if I found out they were churchgoing christians they'd probably have to work even HARDER to alleviate my suspicion and convince me of their kind nature. :D

The thing is, I'm not anti-Christian, but I am most definitely anti what Christian means to my MOM. I love how she gets all "It makes me so sad that I won't see you in Heaven" self-righteous on me - when if you knew even half of what she's put me through my whole life it would make you want to vomit. She's the type of christian I really can't stand - and there is certainly NO WAY I could ever be happy in a relationship with a man that she'd find wonderful in his piousness. :eyes:

Now a good, liberal, christ-like DUer type Christian? That wouldn't necessarily be out of the question since our world views would still be in alignment.

She's a good kid, she's WAY comfortable living with me (the main thing I was concerned about) and she's no trouble at all. She slept until 2:30 yesterday afternoon! She said she's never slept so well anywhere before.

There are loads of single women and rarely single men. I concluded long ago that the only way men end up in church is getting dragged there by a woman after marriage. Not that I go to church much any more, but thats how it is.

Single heterosexual men of any age: If you are remotely religious and want to meet a lot of single women, go to church. I know a 60 yr old Catholic man who just started going back to church after about 40 years, and thats why.

At this point all my mom cares about my love interest is that he's breathing.
