Stupidest idea in TV sports...
My nominee: Fox sport's glowing hockey puck.

I like what this guy wrote about it:

I think the Canadians illustrated its idiocy best with their Molson beer commercials by showing a man wearing a cowboy hat and talking in a Texas accent (which is what all Americans are like, as far as the rest of the world is concerned) pitching the idea of a puck with a bright red tail to the NHL. Their response of course was to throw him out of their office at such a high speed, that he had a red streak of his own behind him. (Making fun of Americans evidently sells Canadian beer.) Glowing puck - worst idea ever.

1. The mere televising of sports in itself is the stupidist idea...
...but then I'm not much into the whole sporto realm of things.

3. um...... XFL?
Other than that (BTW the glowing hockey puck was stupid and I don't even watch hockey) I would have to say that AIRING NFL GAMES ON A NETWORK 25 MILLION FANS DON'T HAVE would be right up there. Oh yeah that's right this is yet another means of "business" squeezing every last nickel out of me that they can.

4. Many cable providers don't even carry the NFL Channel
I know we're getting a "free week" after Christmas to try and convince Time-Warner to pick it up. As annoying as losing games each week on this stupid channel is, it'll be a lot worse when the wild card games are turned over to it.

5. Is that the plan?
I remember about 20 years ago there were Congressional hearings in which the members were AGHAST at the idea that the Super Bowl might not be on one of the major Networks or that MNF might be on cable.

7. Oh yeah, that's the plan
NFL Network, over the next few years, is supposed to expand beyond crap games and into the "real thing". Expect some really interesting decisions when the current TV contracts expire.

6. what about the basketball with trampolines in the floor
My friends who are nba fans said that this was evil, but I found it more watchable than the nba.
Golf is boring to watch and only fun to play when drinking and driving- golf carts.
NBA is silly because everyone can reach the rim. Move it up 5 feet or allow fouling.
Wrestling is not a sport.

8. Airing the Super Bowl halftime show
It's never any good, and there's no reason to make a big deal of it - but the networks do anyway. Who did we have last year? Paul McCartney? Oh, wow, how did I keep from polluting my britches in delight?

Interesting point about the glowing puck, which was merely an experiment which didn't win over enough people: the same people who came up with that are also responsible for the yellow first down line in NFL games, which worked out pretty well. The puck actually helped me follow the game because my vision is so poor, but I understand why people didn't like it.
