* Gordo y la Flaca - an afternoon gossip/silliness deal.
* Primer Impacto - Starts off with seemingly series news, then does gossip/music/"shocking" (impactful) segments. Sports (mostly soccer). Horoscopes.
The signature here is that Univision finds NO problem with featuring voluptuous women in supposedly anchor positions. The concept is that don't-hate-me-because-I'm-beautiful types can READ copy as well as supposedly intellectual/HOMELY stereotypes. They have a see-through anchor desk (glass or plexiglass) and the camera angle is frequently, accidentally aimed at crotch level. The girls, besides being voluptuous, are very tall, with LONGGGG legs, and are atired in anything ranging from Xena straps to... O.K., I think I've rambled enough.
* Their news is sleek and professional and has more NEWS instead of medical and consumer segment junk. The co-anchor dude was pals with Peter JENNINGS and has that aura. The female co-anchor has been doing this for years, so what's the big woof with COURIC. There is the expected Hispanic angle--lots about immigration and border issues. But there is also the different prism, inclusiveness of items skipped by the U.S. networks.
* As for the aforementioned (above) Sabado Gigante, it is a marathon deal whose hook is to do segments of what actually are EVERY OTHER game show already on the air: That is, they do a few minutes of something like a singing contest, a competition of physical stuff, Card Sharks, car giveaways, Price is Right, EVERYTHING crammed into 3 hours. Comedy skits, heart-wrenching family reunions. Suspense: Will the wronged spouse take back the prodigal spouse? Maury POVICH DNA segments-------the WORKS!!!1
I can only take about one hour of it, the last one, ending with the big car giveaway.
