It is the most disgusting, obnoxious, gross, and sickening movie that I have ever seen We were going to see that Will Ferrel movie, (which would have been better), but someone in our office decided on 'Borat'.......horrible

1. I found it really funny and very pointed |
|
However, I love Cohen's "Ali G Show" and his poking fun at social and political mores.

Some of it is truly disgusting, but mainly it's hilarious and a very pointed attack on U.S. kulcher. I mean, asking a car dealer what car is best for running over Gypsies and the guy recommends a Hummer?

|
We were a test audience a year ago and loved loved loved it!
Borat? haven't seen it and it probably isn't my thing, although I do love the title... "and make benefit great nation..."

6. A little bit of that style of humor goes a long way |
|
The notion of watching an entire movies worth of it just strikes me as self abuse. But then thats the cool thing about being a human being. We all come equipted with our own particular tastes.

7. Unfortunately, by the time I saw "Borat"... |
|
I had already heard or seen most of the jokes. I expected to laugh constantly, like I did at "Talledega Nights, Ballad of Ricky Bobby," and I didn't...so I was disappointed.
Sascha Cohen is funny, but I do question his choice of "victims." He made very safe, P.C., choices when it came to who to set-up for gags. He probably could have found Muslims willing to express hatred for Jews also. And, if he had handed a bag of his feces to the black guys hanging out in Atlanta, I don't think they would have been so friendly.
OTOH, the frat boys?....yeah, Borat, go for it!

"disgusting, obnoxious, gross, and sickening" like those are bad things . . .
If the other movie was "Stranger than Fiction," you really blew it. That's a terrific movie.

It’s length thirty meter and width six meter. Filtration system a marvel to behold. It remove 80 percent of human solid waste.

18. I Posted It Because of Earlier Discussions of Borat on DU |
|
There was a lot of debate on how to interpret the humor, especially as it related to the part of the world Borat is supposed to represent. I thought WSWS had the most insightful analysis.
I'm sure it's funny and I'd like to see it, probably on DVD. But that isn't really the question. I heard a lot of funny jokes at the white segregated middle school I went to in NC that I wouldn't repeat here.

19. Interesting review... |
|
I agree with it, mostly.
I just didn't think Cohen was doing anything all that risky, except for pooping in a bag and in shrubs and masturbating in public.
His "victims" were all people that everyone feels safe in laughing at.

That is fine to have some parts of the film like he did, but most of it was really disgusting like the 'wrestling' naked scene with the plump guy with his rear in borats face.......

22. That was the bravest scene in the movie.... |
|
I thought it was funny and curious. Cohen went way out on a limb with that scene without cheaply humiliating innocent bystanders.

that someone is an dope.
It lulled a bit in the middle, but I was in tears in the beginning

what the fascination is with incest in comedy or in novels. I guess they need conflict or something. But it pisses me off.
