So my evil nasty cold has morphed into Strep Throat. |
|
Just got back from the doctor. The sore throat accompanying the cold I've been fighting had gotten really severe in the past 2 days, and I'd started running a fever, so I made an appointment to have it checked out. One throat swab and 10 minutes later....Strep Throat.
I'm taking Zithromax and using copious amounts of the highly-disgusting Chloraseptic throat spray. Please feel free to surround me with warm blankets, hugs, and popsicles. It's really not fair--there should be some universally-adhered-to Law of Nature about getting nasty contagious illnesses this close to Christmas.

1. Awe, that's too bad... |
|
Sorry to hear it.
Take it easy, relax and let the zithromax do it's job and you should feel 100 better by this weekend.
:)

I plan on letting ThinkBlue1966 coddle me mercilessly for the next couple of days. The biggest downer is that with Strep, I have to be really careful about kissing my kid and my sweetie. It would be a Very Bad Thing if the little one catches Strep right before Christmas.

get well!
I had (have?) a cold/sinus infection for eight weeks, finished a second round of antibiotics Thursday, felt good until last night. Today, I'm hoarse and congested again . . .
I hope you feel better for Christmas!

5. When I had it iced OJ and lemonade helped |
|
the cold and acidic felt like it helped reduce the swelling in my throat.
Don't forget the warm salt water gargles.

6. Oh god--I appreciate the advice, but... |
|
...even the *thought* of OJ is painful. Yeesh! I'm leaning more toward sherbets and sorbets and frozen yogurt for the next couple of days. Oh--and ice-cold red grape juice...mmmmm.

7. actually, concord grape juice is supposed to ward off throat inflammation |
|
I read about it in the People's Pharmacy column, and have practiced it since then and it seems to work. First hint of a sore throat, it's concord grape juice (not grape juice cocktail or drink). Also, Airborne has made a big difference in our household. We usually have cases of bronchitis and even pneumonia every year. None this year. Only one mild cold among us.

I am still recovering from pneumonia. I was on zithromax for a few days. I am feeling better, but I'm still coughing and my lungs still 'sing' and creak. Still not 100% either.

That totally sucks. I know it is going around my kids' schools so it is only a matter of time...
I used to get strep throat all the time. I had to have my tonsils out at age 20/21. NOT FUN! But I don't have that problem anymore! LoL.

I haven't had strep since I was a kid, but I recall it quite distinctly. It was miserable! I hope you're on the mend asap!

11. Finish those antibiotics!! |
|
I have a horrible story I will not share with you but someone I know didn't finish his antibiotics and it came back about 100 times worse in about 3 weeks. Strep is no joke.
Get better!

12. No worries! Zithromax is a very easy antibiotic to finish. |
|
Just two pills the first day, and one pill per day for the next four days, and then you're done.
I am especially careful to finish antibiotics when it comes to strep. I have psoriasis, and strep infections can cause a MASSIVE all-over flareup of "guttate psoriasis" if you don't stamp them out fast.

Still feeling really under-the-weather. Frozen yogurt for breakfast is looking mighty good right about now. *sigh*
