Has anyone had treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome? |
|
Note to the mods--I already have the diagnosis and the treatment plan; I'm not asking for medical advice, just the experience and wisdom of DU Loungers.
If you've had any treatment, I'd very much appreciate hearing your how well it worked for you. I've been touring de Nile and it's caught up to me now with frequent bouts of numbness and occasional pain.
I trust the doctor very much but it pays to be informed.
Thanks.

Seriously, though, the IT guy had to start mousing with his less-dominant hand.
Good luck to you!

2. Well, considering neuropathy is compounding the problem, you might not |
|
be too far off--
--just kidding! At least for now.
My co-worker had great luck with an ergonomic keyborad, but doc offered another plan.
I'm NOT looking forward to it, but I can't take it much longer, either. Sigh...

The "normal" boards feel weird now

I am much better for it. I had 2 rounds of 6 week, three times a week O.T. then, a shot of cortizone, which gave me about 3 weeks of relief, then the surgery.

7. Did you have symptoms for a long time? |
|
I have and that's why the doctor is leaning towards surgery.
Thanks.

4. I had it severly enough |
|
to wear a brace and was considering surgery. I happened to get a call to work in a Dojo, shooting the opening title scene of a movie. At lunch, one of the elderly Japanese Masters asked if I would remove the brace. I did. He did something like 'pressure point acu-pressure' on the wrist and different spots on my hand. I never had the surgery and have had almost no problems in the intervening (maybe 20?). years. I still have the brace in the closet. Weird, huh?

5. An HMO nurse gave me good advice: wear the brace at night |
|
Haven't had a recurrence since. Anytime I worked the arm too hard, I put it to bed properly.

6. Is it a custom fitted one? |
|
I'll divulge now; surgery's been prescribed and I will probably go through with it (excellent surgeon) but I want to explore any alternatives.
Thanks!
