3. yes... but who would direct?!
Under any other circumstance, i would BEG for Tim Burton, but although i love him dearly, i hated the remake of Willie Wonka, so i don't know that i would risk it.

suggestions?

4. Close, but not quite:
Robin Williams and Nathan Lane are brilliantly talented, so it will be:

Colin Farrell - Caractacus Potts
Jennifer Anniston - Truly Scrumptious
Adam Sandler - Grandpa Potts
Crispin Glover - Child Catcher
David Schwimmer - Baron Bomburst
Paris Hilton - Baroness Bomburst
Snoop Doggy Dogg - Toy Maker

Directed by: Chris Columbus or Ron Howard
Soundtrack by: Beyonce or a very tired John Williams

I love your choices for what would make a good movie! Excellent, all of them.

I would add to your proposed list -
director: Tim Burton or Mike Nichols
soundtrack composer: Tom Waits

8. We're SO on the same wavelength, Rabsy
I just replied to Bluesy with Columbus as a predicted choice.

PLUS, I considered "Beyondme" as a possible prediction for the Baroness.

Soundtrack, I predict the more-cliched-than-Williams Danny Elfman. But I'd propose the wonderful Anne Dudley.

9. NO. No no no no no no no. Absolutely not.
Some films just shouldn't be remade.

13. "Some films just shouldn't be remade"????
Barn door, meet the horse. :silly:

Well, for what it's worth, Shakesey, I agree with you; I'm just bracing for the eventuality, that's all.

18. "shouldn't" and "unfortunately are" are two very different things
I never said good judgment would prevail--heck, I work in LA (and now, kinda-sorta "in the industry), so I certainly know better than THAT. ;-)

10. No studio would finance that cast.
I've heard that relying on star vehicles (and shelling out the big bucks for actors) is not going to be the regular practice anymore.

Oh, and anyone who casts Paris Hilton in anything really earns that ring of hell he/she is bound for.

14. Well, Hagsy, one thing I'm shaking in my boots contemplating:
REALITY CINEMA!!!! ARRRGH!!!!!

Not documentaries, mind you. But just an extension of the virus that's slowly killing regular TV (e.g. Jackass); I can just imagine "Deal or No Deal: THE MOVIE!"

O, Sweet Lawd above, I hope I'm wrong.

11. Hugh Jackman as Caractacus.
He's got the song-and-dance chops.

Jim Carey as the child catcher.

Kate Winslett as Truly.

The toy maker will be a CGI character. Like Jar Jar.

And the car will be a Ford Explorer, because of the corporate tie-in.

Book it.

BTW, was Countess Bomburst the most erotic character in a G-Rated movie or what?
