I never want to hear the word "abend" again

It's as common as "the" in my office, and fewer than one person in a hundred knows what it means.

THEM: "That report-job abended."

ME: "What does 'abend' mean?"

THEM: "You know... It abended."

Yes, I know what it means, but I'm still sick of hearing it.

8. Good point, but presumably they know what it means
And "That report-job evening-ed" isn't especially euphonious, either!

That's what computer science was in the 70s, kids. Punch cards and all. :eyes:

3. Not even if I say,
"Guten Abend?" Should I just jump straight from 'nachtmittag' to 'nacht'? I mean...

10. My NetWare servers used to ABEND all the time...
until I patched them that is.

I'd wager that I'm the only one in this organization who has ever even used the word.
