The Customer of the Day demonstrates how not to rip off the Army |
|
Today's candidate for retail immortality is a soldier getting ready to move from Fort Bragg to Fort Lewis, Washington. He is going to do a "DITY" move--rent a U-haul, put all your shit in it and drive to your new location. This is widely known as one of the few ways to make real money from the Army because you get paid exactly the same thing as a moving company would.
It is also widely known among our Modern Action Army's sleazier elements that if you go to the store, buy a skid of concrete, have the truck with your belongings in it weighed with the concrete, then return the concrete to the store, you make even more money. Because it's heavier, right?
Now, the way they determine the weight of your belongings is to have you weigh the truck empty, put your stuff in it, weigh the truck full then subtract empty weight from full weight.
This fucking idiot put the concrete in the EMPTY truck.

btw: did that trip... Army dad drove family from Ft. Lewis to East coast for plane ride to Germany twice...not sure how many $$ were saved but trips were scenic.

3. Actually the military member gets 95% |
|
of what the gov't would pay the moving company. The reason I know this is because it's my job! :woohoo:
If you look at my userid the usaf stands for United States Air Force, and tmo is Traffic Management Office.
The percentage was 80%, and it was changed in the late 90's because Uncle Sam wanted more people to move their own stuff.
I can't believe anyone would be so stupid to put the concrete in the empty truck.
