So much for "Neither rain, nor snow, nor dark of night,"
or whatever that is...postal service has suspended deliveries and retail service for the rest of today. I-25 is closed from Cheyenne through Albuquerque. All the highways the head east and west from here are closed. Airport's shut down.

1. Uh oh
no Bach? We had a mail carrier deliver packages to us on SUNDAY. I was floored. They were just sent priority mail.

Don't give up. (Not like that's your style or anything. ;) )

4. No Bach
but that's supposed to get here on Friday...we'll see. No bass today, either. I was supposed to get a few packages out today and they couldn't go...that's what worries me the most.

5. I once had a sofa delivery scheduled after a HUGE snowstorm
I didn't shovel the driveway or walks because there was no way in HELL they were going to deliver anything that day; at 10:15 (delivery time of 10:00-1:00) there is a knock on my door and there they are, with my sofa.

I tipped them each $20 and gave them a thermos full of coffee!

19. Heh...figures.
When you think they aren't going to show, there they are. If you'd shoveled and been prepared for 'em, they wouldn't have gotten there.

7. I didn't get mail the other day. Not because of a blizzard - you know what stopped them?
The utility company was doing work on my block. There was a backhoe parked in front of my mailbox. The mail person would not stop. I watched her drive away.

14. Here, too.
Usually I can see 25 from my house...no way today. I can barely see across the street. Little girl from a few doors down came over and I'm worried about her going home.

22. With the way it's blowing out there,
that's what I'm worried about, too. I haven't seen it this bad since '96, '97.

24. When I was a kid, the mail carrier was sometimes the only car on the road
We lived in a very rural area of Vermont (and since Vermont is pretty much all rural, you can imagine what it was like). My school bus was always the first one cancelled in a bad storm.

Back then, all the rural route drivers drove VW Bugs and they'd go anywhere. We always got our mail.

Now? Forget it. Prima donnas, all of them. We had one miserable woman who would refuse to deliver if there was an inch of snow in front of the mailboxes - no exagerration. I flagged her down one day and called her on it - she drove a 4 wheel drive Toyota truck, for crying out loud and I asked why she didn't just drive over the snow - it would pack right down.

"I'm not going to pack your snow," she snapped and off she went. :grr:

Fuck, man, the pony express wouldn't get anywhere these days....
