Not-So-Excellent Adventure).
Lots of you know my car was repossessed nearly 3 weeks ago. Last week, my mom came through with the money I needed to pay the holder of the car note, so that saved it from being auctioned off. :bounce:
The car had already been moved to the auction lot, so I called them to arrange to get my car back. They were getting ready to close for the weekend (this was 2:00 last Friday afternoon -- holiday party time for them). Plus, I was told I had to have $129 to retrieve the car (storage fee, admin fee, transport fee.....:eyes: ) I didn't have $129 anyway, so....the car stayed at the lot.
However, I've been waiting for my 401k check, which was supposed to be processed in 3-5 weeks. This was two months ago. I just found out yesterday, after a brazilion phone calls, that I HAD FALLEN THROUGH THE CRACKS, and the check hadn't been cut. :grr: However, they were apologetic, and said they would Fed Ex the check to me overnight. :bounce: However, the folks on the east coast (at least at THIS company) have a different definition of "over night" than I do: I was told on Wednesday that the check would be overnighted, and I "should receive it by Friday." :wtf:
Okay.....MrSG got paid today, so I called the auction lot and arranged to pick my car up at 3:30 today. MrSG leaves work early, stops by the house to pick me up, and we're off to get the car!!!! :woohoo:
We get to Auburn, a town 17 miles south of where we live in Seattle, as this is where the car is. Get to the road the lot is on and THE STRETCH OF ROAD IN FRONT OF THE LOT IS CLOSED.
We pull a u-turn, go farther south, but east, then north, then west and finally see the sign for the place. :woohoo: Park the car, go into the building, and were told, no, this was NOT the right building; the one we want is a block or so away.
So, back into the car, drive to the other building, go up to the main entrance, and THE DOOR IS LOCKED!! :wtf:
We can see people inside, and spot two other doors. THEY are both locked. Some guy inside sees us, unlocks the door, and we say we are here to pick up my car. He says.......
.....here it comes......
"Sorry, the power in our building went out as did the phones, and everyone who works in the front office went home. THERE'S NO ONE HERE TO PROCESS THE PAPERWORK SO YOU CAN GET YOUR CAR."
:grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:
Now, this guy had a cell phone, and a number of people we could see inside the building had cell phones. This place has my paperwork, INCLUDING MY FUCKING PHONE NUMBER, but no one could bother to borrow a cell phone to call me to TELL ME the power had gone out???? BEFORE I left to come down there??? (The power had gone out in the morning). :grr:
MrSG stomps back to the car, I fume and curse my way back, and we set off back toward Seattle. The power is supposed to be back on at this place tomorrow, so we get to do it all over again.
Sometimes I wonder why I bother.....
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
You may now return to your regularly scheduled festivizing....
