If you're sending gift cards in the mail |
|
My sister sent Lelapin and me a gift card. It was stolen sometime after it was put in the mailbox in Tulsa and used in Joplin, MO. Kohl's said she needed to file a police report and she has her receipt to prove it was purchased, but they really didn't offer any remedy.
My sister has so many other things to deal with that I feel bad she has to deal with it. $45 is a huge amount to her. They have to watch every single penny...
So, she spends tomorrow trying to find out who to talk to for a police report. Where she lives? Where it was used? Does she have to talk to the Postal Inspector General?
Merry Christmas...

1. If someone is stealing your mail... |

You have bigger things to think about. I would google "Identity Theft Detection Prevention."

I'm in Ohio. It was used 13 hours from here in Joplin (only 2 hours from where the letter was mailed at the post office). We believe it was stolen at the PO or at the sorting facility.
I'll call the bureaus and put an alert on my file just in case.

for the tip.
I'm sorry y'all got stolen from, and that your sister has to go through the bother of filing a police report, or who-knows-what-sort-of-report-with-who-knows-who. :eyes:
I've only sent gift cards once, and by chance I used UPS or FedEx or someone, because I waited till the last minute to send it.
I'll try to keep your misfortune in mind in future, and send valuable items in a manner that allows tracking them.
:grouphug: for you, Lelapin, and your sister
I hope you *do* have a Merry Christmas, in spite of the evil-hearted people of the world.
:hi:

I would like my sister to get her money back, but that's not likely.
Thanks for the
I'm very protective of my sister right now. She's shouldering a burden no mother should. My oldest nephew is sick and doctors cannot help. He may live to be 40. He may not make it to his college graduation in May. She doesn't need this.
Christmas will be fine, in spite of the bad out there. My nephew's still here. :)
