A 5-year-old asks: Is Santa real?
Answer: YES!
That's right: LIE to the kid, just as we were lied to -- and loved it. Kids want to be lied to about Santa. Later, when the figure it out, they are glad to have hung onto the belief as long as they did.
Who agrees? Who disagrees?

1. It IS lying... but it's not. |

We're all "Santa" as long as we continue the tradition of secret presents and Christmas magic.
I think that was the best part of my growing up... that transition from 'believing' in Santa to getting to help create the magic for my younger sibling.
I feel fortunate that, with my older child grown up, i have a second chance to continue these things with our young son (who's 6 1/2). That's the best part of the holidays.
