Do you have secretive coworkers?
Who figure out little tricks and workarounds but don't share them with anyone? Which then makes the bosses think that person walks on water?

I can't figure out if the person is just secretive, proprietary, or trying to make the rest of us look bad.

This is not a person who to my knowledge has any grudge against me (or any of us) but she's figured some way to insert images into reports which she has not seen fit to share. Now she's out of the office and I've been working on trying to re-create this all morning, when the actual process took TWO MINUTES.

Sigh. I HATE people like that. Just share! This is a workplace, damn it.

2. Why not ask?
Maybe it's someone who wants to do a good job but doesn't feel a need to be a tutor for the entire office. Maybe if you just ask how it's done (instead of assuming underhanded reasons for it) she'll just tell you.

7. Well we are at the peer level, so she shouldn't feel that way
but, be that as it may, she wasn't here. I asked everyone I could think of as it was. However, while she is nice enough, she rarely comes out of her office and I talk to her about twice a year, at lunches.

3. I secretly pretend I'm doing work 8 hours a day.
6 years now and I'm still fooling them.

5. Gad, don't get me started
Clueless VP believes folks when they say they're "SO BUSY!!!!!" Got one coworker who perpetuates the myth sometimes to near violence ("What is it? I'm VERY BUSY!!") but her main job takes 45 minutes a day. She says it takes her at least four hours. Sumpin' ain't addin' up right, but it works for her--she's next in line for a manager job, and what do most of the present managers say constantly? "I'm SO BUSY!" :eyes:

6. This is Word and it was a totally easy thing
Using "Paste special" for an image instead of "Paste". HOWEVER, I had never heard of Paste Special, and I did ask MULTIPLE coworkers, all of whom also didn't know you could use this to embed an image. The person who has been doing this is out for the holidays, but she is secretive about EVERYTHING.

Originally I converted the report from Access and the images get lost and we need to add them back in. Using the regular Paste feature completely ruins the formatting of the Word document. No one I asked had done this or knew to do this. In the meantime, the person we work for was insisting that it could be done, and eventually did it herself (even though I had asked her how to do it hours earlier, or if she knew someone who had done it).

So, the coworker has been doing this in reports for months and never saw fit to let us know she was doing this or that it could be done.
