a thank you to all emergency service workers
some people only speak up to complain but i want to speak up to commend.

as you may know, colorado is digging out after one helluva storm (two feet here) and i wanted to take a second to say thanks to all the firefighters, paramedics, police officers, state troopers, sheriff's deputies, EMTs, road crews and everyone else who worked last night and today.

earlier this morning, a street dept. employee used the bucket of his front-end loader to get firefighters to a woman who was in labor in her apartment and get her to the ambulance. the entire call took an hour to run due to road conditions and the woman gave birth about 10 minutes after getting to the hospital. both she and baby are doing just fine.

another paramedic delivered a baby while street crews, firefighters and neighbors worked to get the ambulance to the family's home. mom and baby are also doing well.

i also want to say thank you to all the everyone who helped dig ambulances out of snow drifts and drove paramedics into otherwise inaccessible neighborhoods, as well as the young men who towed me when i got stuck last night and my neighbor and roommate for helping me dig my car out this morning.

i am glad this situation brought so much good out in people here
