Woohoooooo!!! I GOT MY CAR BACK!!!!
It's sitting in the driveway at this very moment!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thanks Mom, for helping me financially; if it hadn't been for her, the car would have been auctioned off.
And thanks to my DU friends, who sent good wishes, good vibes, and prayers that this would finally be resolved. :loveya:

-----------------------

On a more sobering note, though, as I was standing at the entrance of the auction lot building, waiting for my car to be brought 'round, I was looking out at row after row after row of cars and trucks and SUVs and what-have-you, and watching as one after the other, more of those trucks that haul multiple vehicles came to the lot, with yet more repossessed cars.

And I thought to myself, I don't know the owners of these vehicles, don't know their stories, don't know if they will be able to get their vehicles back or not. As I said, I am very fortunate in that I have someone who was able to help me get the car back; many people don't have that. How many of these people are ordinary Jane and John Doe's who had been doing all right, and then their jobs were outsourced, or their hours were cut (thus their pay was cut), etc. That's kind of what happened to me; first priority was the household bills (rent, lights, water, garbage, food....). How many of them have someone who might be able to help them get their vehicle back? How many of them don't, and they are going to permanently lose that vehicle?

------------------------

I AM happy that I got my car back, and grateful for the support from my blood family and my DU family. But looking at all the cars in that lot....well, it's a reminder that even though things are kind of tough for me right now, they're even tougher for others, and I won't forget that.

 :grouphug:

You apparently were not alone in this situation. A lot of people are hurting financially. And * tells us to go shopping!

3. No, I'm not alone in this situation.
I am fortunate, as I said, in getting help from my mom (and having an income that is actually increasing now). When Bush said the other day (yet again) to go shopping, my jaw literally dropped. I know he's out of touch where the war is concerned. And I know he's out of touch where the economy is concerned for Jane and John Doe, but when he said, "go shopping", I realized just how very FAR out of touch he really is.

And this man is the President.....:grouphug:

2. I'm happy for you, sweetheart.
Good ole Mom comes through again. You've certainly been there for her, too, in her hour of need. What goes around, comes around, my dear.

 and Happy Solstice to you, on this, the longest night. Blessings of Light and Love to you...

7. because of the high winds
we have some serious drifts.

my next-door-neighbor (adjoining townhome has about 18 inches in front of her house, my car parked in front of her house was in a six-foot drift, my front yard has about 30 inches.

I hope I can get my car started tomorrow . . .

I wish you happy and healthy motoring!

cool! :loveya:

I'm glad for you and it is a sobering thought to realize that this 12000 Dow market doesn't translate to a strong economy. We are mortgaged beyond belief (our country) in debt up to our eyeballs, and spending billions on a war that could never have been won and was unnecessary and based on lies.

16. I know. It really is primarily the rich who are benefitting from the
"booming economy". I looked around that auction lot, and saw the truth. I read about the difficulties my brothers and sisters here on DU are having financially, and see the truth. I look at my own situation, and see the truth.

Not everyone is down and out, of course, but it sure seems like a lot more are this year than last year.

I finally managed to pull together a few dollars to donate to the fund drive for MrScorpio. StraightStory, and Wiley50, and hope to have a few more bucks tomorrow to donate to the big DU charity drive.

I don't mind giving; I was raised to do that. But I do mind very very much that more and more people seem to be on the needing end of the scale these days.

----------------------

And for you,

19. Yes, Our "Business pResident"
has not helped anyone but the corporatists, and the upper crust of wealth.

The kind of people who for the most part have no loyalty to any country or people IMO.

They might just as easily start their own country, hire Blackwater Security to defend them and throw scraps to the rest of us.

Cynical? Probably.

How long will it take before there is a large enough mass of people to take our country back from corporatists?

and for you!

14. Thanks, Peggy darlin'
I'm very happy to have the car back.

My visit to my family is delayed until next weekend, but that's okay. MrSG's car is now on the fritz and he has to work Friday and Saturday, maybe Sunday too. His grandmother, who no longer drives, decided to give him her car (hooray!!), but he won't have it until Sunday.

I decided I couldn't leave and take the chance of him being stranded late at night after getting off work. :scared: So, I'll wait until next weekend, ring in the new year with the family, and stay home this weekend, so MrSG can drive my car to work.

(The universe took awhile to help bring my car back, but her timing ended up being perfect!)

:loveya:  :loveya:

21. Yep
but at least you can be stuck in it...you can honk your horn, or blast gangsta rap, to pass the time by. When I lived in Sacramento, I had a job working downtown, and the traffic after 4pm was horrendous. I would always see drivers reading, or playing little hand held video games, while sitting in traffic...I always thought that was funny.

22. Well, fortunately for me, my office is in my home.
I do have to go out for meetings with clients, employers, doctors, attorneys, etc. But I'm usually able to schedule those appointments during semi-rush hour, as opposed to high-rush-hour!

24. I'm fortunate that I work in a field where having an office at home
is an option. When I first started working from my home office, I was one of the few in the state. Now, it's more and more common. We are still required to have a car, as we do have to go out on appointments, but it sure cuts down on stress (not to mention the cost of gas and wear and tear on the car!)

I heard on NPR the day before that foreclosures were up by 13% this past year. People losing jobs, their cars, their homes, their health, etc.
