1. Well, okay then. I'll tell you about it anyway. |

So nanny-nanny-boo-boo! :P
I have a normal esophagus, normal stomach, normal duodenum. They took biopsies for celiac sprue and h.pylori. Now it looks like I'm going to get an ultrasound because they can't figure out what my abdominal pain is from. Might be my gallbladder.
Exciting, huh? Carry on. :hi:

I went through a similar bout with abdominal pain a few years ago. Nothing showed up on any tests, and I had a boatload of them! I found a surgeon who agreed to an exploratory laparoscopy. My gall bladder was diseased, but there were no gall stones. Apparently that is quite uncommon.
Hang in there, NC.

All these tests with no results is quite frustrating. I'm glad they figured out what yours was. Did you have a cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal)?

The surgeon took that sucker right out. It was like a miracle for me to finally be without pain.
I understand how frustrated you are. I had begun to think the docs thought I was a head case or something.

Fortunately, I know all the GI docs because I work there. They know the LAST thing I want is medical attention. Most of us are like that. I hope mine is something that can be solved definitively like yours. So far I've given up alcohol, caffeine (almost all of it anyway), spicy food, onions, chocolate, soda, tomato sauces. Nothing is helping and all the food I like is banned. It's a real drag.

5. Ooooh! A double dip- as we call it in the biz... |
|
Actually, that's the best way to do it. Then you only have to be sedated once and lose one day of work. They won't do a colonoscopy on me unless they can't find anything else wrong - my pain is epigastric. I'm hoping that doesn't happen....mainly it's the bowel prep that sounds awful.
Good luck to you! :hi:

7. Are you sure it is physical? |
|
My wife went through a bout of epigastric pain a while ago. Had all the tests, including ultrasound and a MRI. Nobody had a clue what was wrong, then her pain in the ass boss got fired and she hasn't had the pain since.
PS, My wife has been a nurse for 30 years, and I have one semester of nursing school left. If I can just keep from killing a clinical instructor first.

I have had my share of stress this year. Nursing is a stressful job, as you know. I had some unpleasant people I was working with and I just moved departments....still hurting. Who knows?
Nursing school sucks - I feel for you. Some of the instructors seem to be kinda crazy. One semester is not bad, hang in there!
