december birthdays. who has them? who hates them?
who has found a way to make them happy?
DH's birthday is today. it is not so much those 2 fer presents that he hates, it's the way everyone is either wiped out, or still scurrying around, with no time to celebrate. he is getting a little of both today.

those of you in this same boat- happy birthday. hope you have a sense of humor, and can take the bumps. hope you have the time, yourself, to have fun.

1. I do and I love it
It helps spread the cheer around. My birthday is a week before Xmas, so it has always been the start of the ramping-up preparation time. Personally I really don't care about the 2-fer presents or anything; at least people care about me enough to think about a present in the first place!

I quit having birthdays a few years ago. The only person remembering my birthday nowadays is my little girl.

11. this is the worst. i have a niece on 27th.
just long enough after for people to put off buying for you, then, who wants to shop on the 26th. or party. luckily my sister is the type who loves the sales. the kid did good, even if nobody wanted to come to the party.

16. I have one. Sometimes I hate it, sometimes I don't
I'm over the two-fer gifts too, but as a kid that made me nuts. Plus, I got a lot of sweaters and hats and slippers so that was kind of annoying. Now I mostly don't really do anything for it because people are busy running around, and because I hate winter. That's my main problem--it's always freezing and I hate going out and being cold and it's dark at 4:30 or 5, but if it falls on a weekend I'll round a few people up for drinks or dinner. One of my friends with a Dec. birthday used to just celebrate her half-birthday instead. I don't know why she stopped doing that. I thought it was great idea.

17. Mine's the 27th.
I've just learned to live with it. Now that I'm in my 30s, I don't really care about my birthday anyway, but when I was a kid, it kind of sucked.

(I still have a pet peeve about getting birthday presents wrapped in Christmas paper, though, I admit.)

18. Mine is the 30th.
It has always sucked. Who wants to celebrate another event five days after Christmas and one day before New Years Eve? No one, not even me.

20. Me. Used to hate it when I was a kid.

It's less than a week before Christmas, and it was always like, "This is your birthday AND Christmas present." When you're a kid and you get a "combined" present like that you feel like you're getting short-changed because your birthday just sort of mushes into the Christmas season and it's only an afterthought. But now I'm fine with it because I'm old and I'm just as happy if everybody forgets my birthday altogether.

21. hubby is getting a combined present this year.
i did get him some small stuff to open, but i got him something big, and he has to wait. usually, he just picks out which xmas packages he wants to open on the 22nd.
he did good this year as far as our kids go. they all had money saved up, and all got chauffeured around shopping, so they all got him something good. my birthday is in august, i got a couple of cards. (yes, our kids are spoiled. teenagers.)
