Nicknames from your own name
I'm Mary to the world, but to the family, I'm Marie. Mom and I share the first name, so I got called the nickname.

David--Dave, Davey
John--Johnny, Jack
Richard--Rick, Dick, Richie, Rich
Harold--Harry
Peter--Pete
Robert--Rob, Bob, Bobby, Robby
Elizabeth--Liza, Liz, Beth, Eliza
Jessica--Jess, Jessie
Ann--Annie

It seems more prominent with boys' names.

Are you a "nickname" or your full name?

3. the only one who EVER calls me "Debra" is my mom...
...and that's always accompanied with my middle name, and that's always been reserved for when i'm in a heap of trouble.

To most people (Oktoberian included), i'm Debbie.
To many more, it's just Deb.

Our son has called me "Deb Deb" since he first learned to talk, but it's now more interspersed with either Debbie or Deb equally.

7. Nicknames
My name is Paulette. The nicknames are Polly, Paulie, Paule. Sometimes, I am called Molly or Holly --- oh, well, it all sounds the same. When I was a kid and got in trouble Mother would say Paulette in her special voice. Whenever anyone calls me Paulette my head swivels around and my reaction is, "Oh, no, what have I done now???"
