DU Has A Sexist Banning Policy
Ever seen one of those tombstone icons. They always say "Here Is A Disruptor - He Disrupted Poorly"

Why do we naturally assume that all disruptors are men?

I'm sure it's likely that since women are 52% of the population, they are going to come here and disrupt this board sooner or later.

I think we should find a gender-neutral term to put on the tombstone.

Maybe something like "Here Lies A Disruptor - It Disrupted Poorly" or something.

:D

There. Now go and argue with my samurai liberal logic.

10. you know, thinking about it now
It kinda makes no sense to say "disrupted poorly" because it's not like you can disrupt well, can you?

I mean, to be technically correct we should say that they disrupted very well...so well, in fact, that they had to be banned.

:D

12. Good answer
You're slowly working your way up and out of that hole. But I'd be betraying my entire gender if I didn't make you suffer for a little while longer. ;-)

for the younger set - the phrase is a gendered reference to a gendered ad campaign for cigarettes targeted towards women...

about the Holy Grail. When the Nazi drinks from the wrong cup the old knight said, "he chose poorly." Its the way the old knight says it that's kinda cool.

I'd add that even though women are 52% of the population, it my guess that maybe as much as even 100% of the time, its testerone charged white male right wingers that get banned.

19. People are not its they are he or shes
An unfortunate limitation of our language is we do not have a gender neutral third person pronoun for the object of a sentence. the options are:

1) Use He meaning He or She
2) alternate use of he and she so it is clear there is not a gender determination being made.
3) Use the dreaded s/he

My preference is 2, than 1, than 3. I really hate 3, but some people like it.

And I agree - when someone picks a username like sexycool it's usually a sign that they are neither and know it.
