I usually go to Montreal for Christmas to spend it with my family, but I can't this year. I promised to cat-sit for my neighbors while they spend the holidays in Aruba.

I was looking forward to a nice long quiet three-day weekend. My sister wheedled me into accepting an invitation to her house.

I like my sister; I suppose it will be okay.

And am quite content with it. In my twenties, the massive consumerism soured with me. So one christmas, I went out looking for gifts special to each person. On christmas day, I was assailed with "Is this all? How much did you spend?". So that was that. Fuck it. No more.

I look forward to this time of year for the solstice and the sun returning.
