Is it just me, or are other drivers ILLITERATE?!
We drive down this road every day. It's a four laner with a huge median. These bastards go 25, 30 miles an hour! Then there are signs posted on another street we drive down all the time, and there's a no turn on red sign. People always turn on red! Then, at the mall, there are signs that say incoming traffic does not stop, meaning if you're entering from one of the main roads, then you have no stop. These bastards freaking STOP! Every time, and block fucking traffic! It makes me completely insane.
And it just get worse around the holidays.
Oh, and I HATE FUCKING WALMART! They post this cooked turkey. It says Cajun Turkey $4.98. It doesn't say PER POUND. It just says $4.98. We go to buy one for our Christmas day gorge fest, and the lady behind the counter said, that's $4.98 per pound. I point out that Turkeys do not cost that much and that is not what it is marked. She holds firm. We walk away. How stupid is that? They need to change their sign to something more coherent and specific.
How is your day going? :)

4. You too!!
We have to go have some pictures printed today, and exchange my new headphones because they are already dead after a week. We have to brave the crowds on the last day of Christmas Shopping. God help us. LOL

14. you have my sympathy
I almost went shopping today. :scared:
I got to within a block or so, and there was so much traffic, cars backed up into the road trying just to get into the mall parking lot... :scared: :scared:

I decided to bail out and come back home. I had planned on getting my nephew everything on his list, and had one thing left. He'll have to get that one thing as a post-xmas gift. :eyes:

At least he will still get some gifts in time for xmas :D

2. That is why I no longer participate in the "Holiday"
You seem so stressed. I gave it up three years ago and I am at peace with the world. I don't buy any gifts for anyone, I have made it clear to everyone involved. If they choose to buy me a gift I feel no obligation at all, not my problem. If they can't figure it out, too bad.
I WILL NOT jump into a buying orgy because we are celebrating the birth of Christ. I believe Christ would not approve of this holiday at all.

Relax, and "enjoy" the holiday. Remember it isn't about the "How" you celebrate but the Why.

(BTW- I am agnostic but realistic, I love Christmas because I get an extra two days off work!)

5. I'm not stressed, really...
I was just in a bad mood after dealing with the hellish traffic. Thanks for putting everything into perspective though. You're right. But I love the giving of the season. I love watching someone open a gift from us not knowing what it is. I love to make people happy.
Have a great two days off work!!

3. These little annoyances are easily solved ...
With a horn and a middle finger.

Well, maybe the horn is not appropriate inside Walmart, but the middle finger still works.

But remember, the lady behind the counter didn't make the sign outside, and is working for something near minimum wage. She can't make "deals". She needs a hug too.

:grouphug:

Merry Christmas

7. There's a very simple explanation for the behavior you've noticed...
Edited on Sat Dec-23-06 08:19 AM by Kutjara
...as well as the many other stupid things people do on the roads. The average driver thinks that their car is actually their living room, and that the windshield is their TV set. So they sit there, eating, drinking, reading the paper, talking on the phone, applying makeup, combing their hair, scolding their children, chatting to their spouse; in short, all the things they typically do at home. Of course, because they think the view through the windshield is a fairly boring and repetitive TV show, they don't really pay much attention to what's going on out there. Until, that is, they run headlong into a tree at 50 mph, then they're as shocked as they would be if one of the killers on a cop show reached through the screen and attacked them.

8. I don't know - I see lots of them reading
Yes, reading on the freeway. Magazines and books but most often newspapers. :wtf:

And I thought cell phone users were lousy drivers. :banghead:

16. Here in LA, there are a lot of people who...
Edited on Sat Dec-23-06 05:54 PM by Kutjara
...seem to be trying to get rid of excess turn signal fluid. They leave the damned signals blinking away on the freeway forever. They're too wrapped up in the exciting adventure going on inside their cars to pay any attention to what's happening outside.

I once asked a friend why he never used his turn signals. He had two answers. First, he was saving money by lengthening the time between bulb replacements (he was serious about this one). Second, by changing lanes without indicating, he didn't give people the chance to block him in, something he was convinced was the general reaction to seeing someone put their turn signal on.

11. blindness is not illiteracy
People do not always notice a 'no turn on red' sign.

I notice this in chess alot. When there is alot going on, it is easy to miss things, even very important things. I am a good chess player, not because I have better strategery than other chess players, but because I have better vision. Often my opponents do not notice that my bishop is poised to take their queen. It's right there on the board, in plain sight. This is not stratego, my bishop is not hidden and neither is their queen.

Maybe some of it is that others have better concetration than I do. They focus so tightly on a part of the game that they miss other parts of it, whereas I am distracted by the big picture. I am also willing to take me time, although I am not that slow of a player, I do take my time instead of rush, rush, rush. I always liked Triumph better anyway.

12. I still freak out on the NW Highway sometimes
It gets especially crazy around Penn and the freeway entry lanes. More than once have had to go up a light beyond my turn for not being able to get over for blocks before my turn.

Hope you are done and home for the holiday weekend, Duckie!

13. You're not supposed to read while driving!
:sarcasm:

I totally hate it when I am coming to a construction zone (lots of construction this year) and the signs are there, telling you that the left or right lane is closed ahead and NO ONE moves to the open lane but everyone charges ahead to cause a bottleneck!

Can't people READ? ? ?

If the sign says right lane close ahead, or right lane close 1mile ahead MOVE NOW. Don't wait till you're an eighth of an inch from the pylons.

sheesh :)

thanks for lettin' me rant.

17. I would have held their feet to the fire.
I remember a news story, from the '70s, about a car dealership that advertised a vehicle for the price of "5000 bananas." The advertisement used the word "bananas" as an amusing slang word for "dollars." But, when a lady came in with 5,000 actual bananas and they refused to sell the car to her, she took them to court--and she won. The judge said that, because the word "bananas" was not capitalized, or otherwise shown to mean anything but "bananas," she had a reasonable expectation that she could trade 5,000 bananas for the car.

Your situation has at least as much merit as the banana case. In fact, Walmart has a responsibility to say exactly what they mean in the advertisements and I wouldn't be surprised if the failure to include "per pound" was an intentional oversight. In any case, though, even though it's not worth litigating (like the car) they owe you the turkey, in my opinion.

23. I don't know why but this really offends me
it's like saying walmart customers, because they tend to be poor, are too freaking stupid to know cooked turkey at $5 a pound is a fabulous deal. I doubt poor people are that freaking stupid. But hey, if I'm wrong and Walmart needs to post 5 pages of legaleese at every price sign in the whole store so thier idiot customers don't get too confused then I guess maybe we SHOULD sue the everloving crap out of them.

You know, like that woman customer at McD's too retarded to know coffee is hot.
