Poll question: Holiday Dilemma: What would a DUer do?
Situation: Sunday is Christmas Eve. You and your family are scheduled to fly to your hometown to celebrate the holiday with relatives. The night before (Saturday), you're scheduled to have a get together at your home with a close dear, dear friend before you depart. Tonight (Friday), you receive a call from your friend who informs you that yesterday (Thursday), he got hit with the stomach flu but he's a lot better and looking forward to the get-together.

Other factor: You just got over a bad cold that hit you the week before, and you're grateful to have shaken it just in time for your departure.

1. Do you have a sick, elderly, infant or immunocompromised family member you'll visit?
If so, "I'm sorry, but I really can't risk catching something and carrying it to Auntie Phyllis and Baby Suzie. We'll get together as soon as we get back, my treat."

Problem solved. :)

2. Absolutely - postpone it until you return.
I agree with LeftyMom - you may be compromising more than just yourselves.

3. It did work out, we're going to celebrate together when we return.
Plus, the friend did notice that symptoms were still there so agreed to hold off.

But I'm intrigued by the majority of responders who would've chanced it; whoever you are, you're certainly braver than I.

4. You know - I've learned a lot in the past few years since my husband has been
ill - his treatment depletes both his red and white cells and we have to be very careful when he go out and mingle. It now makes me realize how responsible we all need to be in thinking of others.
I'm glad it worked out for you.
Have a very Merry Christmas and New Year.
