Beautiful song, don't get me wrong...but I wonder...is it some sort of like 14th century fashion statement? Is it a class/gender/scarlet A/gold star of David thing?

I could probably Google this but it's so much more fun to just ask you delightful all-knowing folk. :D

2. Huh?
"What child is this, who lay to rest"
"on Mary's lap is sleeping......" or something like that.

The words I learned are definately birth of Jesus words.

5. That is a different song
"What Child is This" lyrics were written later & use the same melody as "Greensleeves"

11. Again. Yes. I know.
I've had adult beverages, got the Charlie Brown x-mas cd on...I just wanted some human interaction. Stop harshing my x-mas buzz. It's a very inappropriate thing for someone with OPIATE in their name to do. x(

:D :P

did Wiki turn into something actually useful?

Another interesting question that I have no idea to google or wiki, is what is the oldest, known, recognizable tune or melody. Greensleeves is a little ove four centuries. What's older?

14. For me, "Greensleeves" means a flash of childhood torment.
At age 5 or 6, I had a teenage sister who enjoyed playing acoustic guitar and singing "Greensleeves".

When he wrote "Que sera, sera".
