Post your surefire "non-traditional" methods of inducing labor!
My wife is a bit frustrated. :) We know about having sex, walking around, eating spicy food...what's your favorite non-traditional method?

I did not know that. The kid must come out smelling like a hot pepper :)

2. Paint the kitchen.
I'm being sort of tongue-in-cheek here, but when I was pregnant with my daughter, I got that big burst of energy a lot of women had told me about. Had a huge country kitchen in the house I lived in at the time, and I decided to paint it. Went into labor shortly after I finished.

3. Has the timer popped up yet?
My sister has 5 kids and said the signal that the baby was really done baking was just like those little plastic timers on the turkeys. When her belly button popped completely out she could go into labor within the next 3 days.

When her timer popped she'd blast her belly with headphones cranked up to something with a lot of bass and the labor would start within hours.

4. It can be uncomfortable, more than a typical labor...
Edited on Sat Dec-23-06 04:59 PM by FedUpWithIt All
but 2 oz of castor oil is known to induce labor. My daughter was nearly two weeks late so my midwife advised i do that instead of a medically induced labor.

I took 2 oz with orange juice and a pinch of baking soda nearly an hour later i did another two oz. but i DO NOT recommend you do more than the initial 2. It makes labor too uncomfortable.

This is pretty common knowledge among midwives but i am not offering medical advice for your wife...just saying what worked for me in a late pregnancy.

Edited to add castor oil will NOT induce a labor if the pregnancy is not full term.

The following link lists positives and negatives.
