Making bluegrass local while taking it global
DJ HOPES WEBCASTS WILL BURNISH KENTUCKY'S MUSICAL REPUTATION
By Greg Kocher
CENTRAL KENTUCKY BUREAU
VERSAILLES - Marc Manning has taken his passion for bluegrass music into cyberspace.

On Dec. 5, the Versailles resident did his first weekly Tuesday night show for Worldwidebluegrass.com, a 24/7 Internet bluegrass outlet. He webcasts the show from the comfort of his home office.

Recent shows featured songs by Bill Monroe, the Ohio County native and father of bluegrass music, Lonesome River Band, IIIrd Tyme Out, Doc Watson, Matt and Pauly Zarb, the Drew Emmitt Band and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

"What I want to do is take people back to pre-bluegrass, talk about some of the influences in bluegrass ... and then explore what's going on with certain bands, what they've done and what they're going to do," Manning said.

This looks like a great resource. You will be able to take part in an internet chat with the dj's during the show.
