1. OMG, I remember this - Christmas 1967
They did such a beautiful rendition of that song.

Wow, look at Peter Tork. What a crush I had on him when I was thirteen.

3. They WERE good, weren't they?
The Monkees had more musical talent than they were given credit for.

4. More than I ever gave them credit for, that's for sure. XM's 60s channel
plays them frequently.

9. Every Monday night at 7:30 p.m., on WRC, my thirteen-year-old
carcass would be parked in front of the television, waiting for the newest episode of "The Monkees". A million hearts were broken when that show went off the air, LOL.

They were called the "Pre-Fab Four", but they had as much talent (and maybe more) than a lot of other groups. Mike Nesmith certainly proved that as the years went by.

5. Thanks to Mike Nesmith for having the guts to make something real out of them
Jones' was a Broadway-style personality. Mike and Peter were musicians who just got lucky. Mickey was just an actor, with a voice that was sufficiently novel (it's quirky but good).

It started out faux, but Mike's own influence is what elevated them to a level that puts all modern day bubblegum bands to shame; he had a soul. Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, and the rest are just puppets without resolve. Well paid puppets, but only an image. Mike deserves a lot of credit.

8. I still listen to Nesmith
He just put out a new CD this year. I have it sitting right here. I also hang out in his online community, which is like a virtual city. They have live concerts and show movies. It's kind of like the Sims.

11. Believe it or not, Mike Nesmith's mother invented White-Out
She sold the rights to Gilette. It made her a multi-millinaire.

Nesmith used the money his mom left him after she died to start his own multimedia company: Pacific Arts.

6. Well, I didn't have a crush on Tork..lol, but....
My parents still have a letter I wrote to Santa when I was very young and I asked for a Monkees album and a bass guitar. I wanted to play bass because of Peter. That was the late 60's or early 70's. I ended up playing guitar instead, but I still play bass when needed. All because of Peter Tork..LOL.

10. Merry Christmas to you too OhioBlues!
I'm getting ready to go to my family's party here soon. Luckily we all get along and most of them are really funny, so we spend most of the time just laughing, so it's not so bad.
