How do I get back the Status Bar after IE 7 has PILLAGED my preferences? |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-24-06 02:07 PM by UTUSN
My low tech-itude is so profound, I don't even know if it's called a Status Bar. When you click on a link, there used to be a (bar?) that zipped (well, dial-up don't exactly ZIP) across from left to right, telling you how far along the loading was. Or it would stay stuck. Whatever.
Anyway, after IE 7 imposed itself, lots of little useful things like that are gone. At first even the File-Edit-View-etc. push buttons and the Print-copy-paste-etc. were gone from the top. I figured out how to get them to be viewed.
So what I've got now is a (longer) address window, and Google Search window, then a useless extra window telling me what website I'm viewing. There's another one of those at the bottom.
I right-clicked on the toolbar area at the bottom and there's not much there THERE.
To anybody who helps, I am not worthy!!!1
P.S. Plus, ever since IE 7, just going from one DU page to another, it times out then says,"IE cannot display this webpage". Have to Disconnect, connect again and go to that page directly. What a LOAD!!!1

...do you have File-Edit-View-etc across the top of the page? If you do, click on view. There should be status bar listed. Check it.
Hope this helps.

3. Add/Remove programs will let you go Back to IE 6. |
|
I'm on a Macintosh right now so I can't verify that. But uninstalling IE 7 should put things back to normal. I'm not sure if you will continue to get nagged if you go that route.
