Favorite Television Theme Songs
I've been watching Nick-at-Nite's marathon of first episodes, and wondered what everyones favorite theme songs were. Not necessarily sitcoms, but let's limit it to television shows this round(no movies).

Mine:

1.)Good Times
2.)Family Ties
3.)WKRP in Cincinatti

Edited on Thu Jan-01-04 11:31 PM by progrocker69
include "The Simpsons", "Animaniacs", and "The Rockford Files".

On edit: I agree with the above post about "Sanford and Son" and I gotta add "The Greatest American Hero" as well.

from Animaniacs. Wacko sang a rather catchy song including the name of every country on earth, if I remember. Good stuff :)

Greatest American Hero
Hill Street Blues
Magnum, P.I
L.A. Law
NYPD Blue

38. I loved the theme to L.A. Law. I wish there was a CD compiliation...
If PERFECTLY fit the mood of the show...smart, kind of sexy. Particularly the sax at the beginning of the tune.

"L.A. Law" was a favorite show of mine. And the opening theme song was one reason why.

I wish there was a CD compilation of Mike Post's music. I'd buy it in a second.

the theme from "Bosom Buddies."

I don't care what you say any more, this is my life
Go ahead with your own life and leave me alone.

I love that song. Second would be Peter Gunn. One I hated, though I loved the show, was the rap theme from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Well, that's a Billy Joel song, isn't it?
I think he released it as a single long before Bosom Buddies came out. The version on the TV show isn't him, obviously.

36. The Love Boat (how cheesy is that?)
I remember watching this when I was 7 or 8 years old and now I wonder what my parents were smoking to let me watch a show where the basis of the relationships formed were one night stands on a cruise ship?! The guest stars were awesome though. So many the golden age classic movie stars. That alone, was the best part of the show.

47. The original Perry Mason theme!
Are you people that out of touch with your television heritage? :-)

In general, I go for the instrumentals: Perry Mason, Hill Street Blues, Hawaii 5-0, The Rockford Files, St. Elsewhere, The Avengers, Route 66, Magnum P.I..

One of the best vocal theme songs was for the British spy series Secret Agent.

For sheer 1950s campiness, you can't beat 77 Sunset Strip, with the snapping fingers.
