Lawyers, some help with a form?
NOT looking for legal advice, just some help figuring out how to file a form. :)

I have a "Summons" paper that lists some facts and accusations against my sister in reference to a child custody suit. I *think* we just have to type "Agree" or "Disagree" as a response to each allegation or statement, but I'm not sure whether we're supposed to elaborate further than that. Sis can't afford a lawyer, so I'm trying to help her do the paperwork correctly until we can find a law student willing to serve as an advisor so she can represent herself.

So..is there anything else I need to do when filing a "response", other than typing "Agree" or "Disagree" in response to each allegation/statement?

1. It's gonna be hard for us lawyers to help you without looking at it
Summons in many states are just a notice that you've been sued and, if it comes in the mail, no response per se is necessary except to sign off and return an accompnaying form saying you will accept service without being served in person by a process server. The complaint itself is usually what needs a response, not the summons. But it might be different where you live. And the type of response depends on whether the complaint is technically correct. So you're better off paying a professional paralegal to look at this for you, if money for a lawyer is an issue. Probably more efficacious than using a law student.

2. Honestly, I'm not sure what the laws are here
and I'm having a difficult time trying to Google it and figure it out. So far, I've come up with two versions--one is a version that lists the allegations made by the Petitioner, in which the Respondent simply responds AGREE or DISAGREE. The other version is one where we explain *why* the Respondent agrees or disagrees with each allegation.

This is really a messed-up situation. I feel bad for my sister. :/

3. You must not be in CA
we don'tt have such form pleadings. It sounds like it's a responsive form. Remember, if you agree, it's like saying it's true. If it's not an unequivocal yes, then we can "deny" with qualifications here where I am..... Like I said, have here pay for a paralegal if she can't afford a lawyer. Best of luck
