You're on your own as far as criteria go. As this is the Lounge, I'm trying to steer at least a bit away from strictly political topics, but it's impossible to do so completely. As most of these are addictive or in some way physically harmful if used excessively, I could make the subject line something along the lines of Worst Addictive Substance, but that would rule out putting in a smartass Choice #9 such as ABBA. Such is life.:)

1. It all starts with sugar.

AND, tobacco is cured in sugar. Or, it was. Don't know if they still do it that way. But when I was born, the first thing the nurses shoved into my mouth was sugar water. I've been an addict ever since.

4. Many people (myself included) believe processed sugar is _the_ "gateway" substance

that almost everyone has experienced before prescription drugs, caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, pot or other substances. Heck, I remember my brother being allowed to drink Coca-Cola in a baby bottle. :thumbsdown:

7. High Fructose Corn Syrup, NOT sugar

small amounts of sugar, honey, even regular corn syrup are not harmful to humans. But High fructose corn syrup is a killer. Probably causes more death and disability than meth.......

10. Where is Marijuana??? After all, it is THE gateway drug.

Marijuana is the root of all evil. It is so evil that our great and wise President, Mr. Bush has directed the courageous drug warriors to increase their law enforcement efforts on this insidious weed. Did you know that marijuana prosecutions have increased under our dear leader? Did you know that, in order to go after the evil Taliban we have allowed poppy production in Afghanistan to double over the level it was prior to 2001?

I believe we ought to lower the drinking age to 10 years of age. If it just saves one child the horrors of Marijuana it would be worth it. If they develop a taste for 100 proof Vodka there would be no reason to ruin their young lives with that vile weed. God really screwed the pooch when he created Marijuana. It is up to the wisdom of man to correct it by distilling healthy and harmless beverages to help people relax.
