Miniature pony killed, another injured in pit bull attacks
UXBRIDGE, Mass. -- Four animals horsed around in Uxbridge, but one did not survive.

Lulu, a miniature pony belonging to the Borghesi family, was killed by a pit bull last Tuesday.

"I went to the front yard and found her mutilated, killed, dead," Kathleen Borghesi said.

Their larger horse, Bucky, was dealt 18 wounds on his neck. The animal now is on IV therapy and currently takes 30 pills a day.

2. I'd Say It's Highly Likely They Weren't Even Pit Bulls.
Since they were just called such by one witnesses sight identification, I'd say it's far more likely the witness got the wrong dog breed.

4. as the owner of two pit bulls
I'm sorry but I wouldn't blame you in the least. No horse should suffer like that.

5. We had a similar thing happen to a family members stock
They live in a rural area and the local dogs sometime get together and exhibit pack behaviors. Its a known issue, but few owners are willing to do much about it. One night the pack went into my sister in laws corrals and slaughtered her herd of pygmy goats. She was able to ID 4-5 of the animals, but the owners all refused to accept responsibility (not my little Fido), one even denied it while her dog was covered in blood. My sister in law finally overcame her prejudice and now has several firearms, the area has quite a few less dogs.

6. My mom's Rottweilers once killed a bunch of Emus that escaped onto her property
The neighbor was really cool about it, since it was his responsibility to keep his animals contained, and he even gave my mom some of the meat.

If it had been reversed, and the dogs had gotten into the Emu ranch, my mom would have compensated him for the birds.

Still, I think Rottweilers vs Emus would have been a pretty even fight, except that the dogs operate as a pack, and apparently Emus-- fierce as they are-- do not.

8. Sounds like another case of some dog owners who need to be put down.
