aarrgh! Anyone having problems returning items???

We bought our kid a game for the wii at a large electronic chain store. We asked the salesman if this particular game could be played online..he said yes it can be played online, in fact all his friends play it all the time.......found out the game is not available for play online, after my kid took the wrapper off and opened the game.

Tried to take the game back, explained to the manager and everyone else that the salesman said it could be played online, which was not right, and we need the same game which is available for PS2, which can be played online, they won't exchange it since it was opened........I am not a happy camper at all....
