Help a guilty conscience

Someone gave me cash as a birthday/xmas gift. I'm a big Star Trek fan, I had suggested getting me seasons 2 and 3 of the original series on DvD would be a good idea when I was asked what I would like. But I also suggested donations to a couple of environmental groups and a particular charity for homeless children I donate too.

And the person who gave me the cash, which is enough to buy season 2 and 3, is the same person who last year gave me season 1 of Star Trek.

I was debating with myself what I should do with the money, donate it or buy the DvDs. I ended up in Costco today and they had the DvD at a very low price and I bought them.

My rationalization was something like - well she might've just bought the DvD's anyway, I've already done my year end donations and in fact someone else did adopt a wolf in my name (my favorite gift this year)...so what the heck.

And now I get an email from Defenders about the emergency need for help saving wolves in Wyoming from a 'thinning'. And of course there's the whole second harvest thing here at DU. And my conscious is really making it hard to continue watching these DvDs. That seems to answer my question Right there doesn't it? :) Oh well I'd like to see what you all say...just the same...never hurts to get a little outside reading (so to speak) from time to time.
