Do you use your cell phone as a conduit for internet connectivity? |
|
(e.g. a 'modem' that you connect to your laptop for high speed access?)
I'm thinking of eliminating my landline and doing everything via cell and save $70/mo. :hurts:

1. I do when I'm out of the house or away from my laptop. |

I use my Treo 650 to access email, search websites for addresses/phone numbers and find my way with online maps. Occasionally, I use it as a modem for my laptop if there's something I really need to send to someone or receive and work on myself immediately. Otherwise, I wait until I'm in range of a broadband connection.
Cellular connection speeds are still slower than the fastest wired broadband and I send and receive a lot of large files (and play online games), so it'll be awhile before I give up my 10mbps home connection.
I've actually eliminated my voice landline and use Skype over my internet connection. Calls to phones are very cheap (calls to Skype-equipped computers are free) and there's no monthly fee.

about an internet based phone service, where you keep your home phone number, and it's a flat 17 bucks a month.
