VOLUNTEER IN 2007!!!!!!!!!
Of course, there are always more volunteer opportunities than there will ever be people who can fulfill them, but when I saw this, it said "POST ME, POST ME!!!"

Now THIS is a concept that's hard to ignore - it's SOOOO well suited to us on-liners!!!

http://www.vmentor.com/

Consider being a mentor ON-LINE to foster kids age 16-23. The time commitment is similar to Big Brother/Big Sister, but all of the interaction is on-line.

And why teens in foster care??? What many people really don't seem to realize about foster care is that at age 18, these kids are officially on their own. No more money, no more home eligibility. They may still be in high school - DOESN'T MATTER. Some people talk about cruel parents who push kids out to fend for themselves after high school. This is a lot worse. Imagine this one day in your life when all of a sudden, there's no support ANYWHERE.

That's where VMENTOR.COM comes in. It's designed for foster kids in transition to adulthood.

I hope some of you will look into it. It's probably not quite as time consuming as being a big brother/big sister, but may have comparable benefits.
