Scion TC or Hyundai Tiburon
Need a sporty car, less than 20K new, good factory tires, mp3, high 20s MPG. That's all I ask. What would you do.

2. Yeah
I researched the Tc but learned that they are not often available for test drive ( you have to order it), that the set price is really a disguise for dealer add ons that you may or may not want. I also hear that the Scion tires are cheap. That's why I'm posting. My local hyundai internet guy is real good. I know I won't have a problem buying from him if that's the route I go. Man, that high end Tibby with all the bells and whistles is sweet. But it's a V6 the MPG would be in the low 20's.

If I won the lottery I would run out and get one. They look better in up close on the car lot.

4. We LOVE our Scion XB.
And we call it The Toaster.

But we do seriously love it - great mileage, spacious interior but plenty of room inside.

But if you're talking about the XA, I've heard it's very weak.

5. A friend of mine has the Scion. I rode in it, and it's very nice.
It felt very solid and well-made.

6. I'd go for the TC

The TC is really a modern-day Toyota Celica. Good horsepower out of the 2.4 motor, decent gas mileage, and the resale value is good. Also easier to get in and out of. Price is shockingly cheap for a Toyota sports car.

I drove a used Tiburon a few years back and thought it was a tin can. Not sure if it's improved since it was remodeled, though. Hyundai has come a long way in the past few years, so who knows. It does share something with most sports cars - namely it's cramped as hell! Hyundai resale values have not been very good, but are getting better. Not sure of the sticker price, but if it's similar to the TC, then your decision should already be made. It does have a longer warranty than the TC, if that's important.

All in all, I'd go with the TC. It's as safe a bet as any car can be.
