or part of a tooth. I had a crown on a molar that went south and took part of the tooth with it. Now I have a toothache that probably won't get any better and we already have about 6 or 8 inches of snow on top of the 3 feet we got late last week, so I won't be getting out for a day or two. Not that I have dental insurance anyway . . .

Extraction or root canal. The thing that drives me nuts about dental work is that it doesn't last your lifetime. It breaks or wears out, and cavities can develop underneath crowns. Ugh.

try to cover up the gap so your root isn't exposed.
If you have no insurance, see if there is a dental school near you. Sometimes they don't charge or charge very little.

I'm sorry.
(just get the damn tooth extracted when the snow melts -- that way it won't do this again. Ever.)
