Lifetime Movie Network-I need an intervention!
Edited on Thu Dec-28-06 10:19 PM by xmas74
Tonight's fare: a movie loosely based on fact about the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her husband as they travelled from the Dakotas to Missouri.

On now: a movie about a socially awkward high school girl who falls in love and finds herself pregnant. To add to the situation, the boy dies in a car accident and no one knows they were ever together.

It's just wrong. I know it's bad but I can't stop myself.

(And it just gets worse-next up is a Molly Ringwald movie, made long after the 80's.)

2. I don't watch the tv shows
but damn, those movies are like crack cocaine. If you feel bad about yourself turn on Lifetime-someone is in a worse place than you will ever be.

DU needs to do this intervention since most of my closest friends IRL are gay men and are just as addicted.

5. I have straight male friends
but they are all married and don't understand the investment in a Lifetime movie.

The gay men are the ones who will answer the phone at 3 am when I'm crying; the others won't. Too bad we have the same addiction.

27. I miss her!
We had plans to start our own male harem on a deserted island somewhere. We had the men picked out and everything.

Trent was going to teach our daughters piano when we weren't busy tying him up and using him as a sex slave. We believed that each man chosen had to have a dual purpose.

I've been looking for her-I found a new man to add to the harem.

6. Whn I was in the hospital in 2004....
They had nurses in to watch over me since I was prone to "moving" about in my semi comotose state...

Well, they loved the Lifetime and HAllmark channels...

I remember all these movies about cops, and inner city wonder doctors, and tragic love and, well...

I know of which you speak...

13. Proof that you are watching it.
Remember, he hit the viaduct.

Now everyone loves throwing out the stereotype of the "booksmart girl who has no common sense." Isn't that what the movie is really about?

30. Well,
the entire town found out she was pregnant, tried to kick her out of school or something like that. She wouldn't tell anyone who the babydaddy was-turns out it was her first and only time. (I know a former health teacher who is eating that up w/ a spoon right now-"Ladies, you WILL get pregnant your first time!")

Anyway, dead babydaddy's parents found the poem he wrote to her and put two and two together, realizing that she was carrying his child. The school allows her to graduate and crap, she has the baby and she gives it to the dead boyfriend's parents to raise while she goes off to college.

And she named it Marlon.

18. OMG I freaking love Lifetime movies
like "She's Too Young" about some 14 year old who wants to be popular so she gives the most popular guy in high school a blowjob and gets syphalis. That one was really good.

And the one about the abused kids home...so sad.

You're so right. Lifetime is like crack. So is USA, when Law and Order is on. SVU marathon tomorrow! :woohoo: :bounce:

20. I never saw the STD one.
But I swear I watch every single movie about teen pregnancy. Those are the best ones!

That or Joan Van Ark or Melissa Gilbert or Valerie Bertinelli being stalked by a psycho who wants to rape them, take their kids, steal their husbands, shoot their dogs-whatever. Those are always good too.

24. Don't forget Kellie Martin.
My favorite stalker one is "Midwest Obsession" with Courtney Thorne-Smith and Tracey Gold.

25. I did forget about Kellie Martin.
But Tracey Gold has done a few herself. Seems like she even did her true story once about her eating disorder.

Anyway, they are all fantastic to snuggle up and watch when it's cool outside and there's nothing else on.

I usually try to forget that I have that channel for that exact reason: I get sucked in every single time!
