What did you burn over the holidays?
C'mon, fess up.

For me, it was a couple of batches of brownies. Just on the fringe between overcooked and actually burned. Didn't taste completely charred, but were so dry that they hardened up and had tooth-breaking potential within a half an hour.

3. wow.
I have never had a third degree burn. I have heard that those are not as painful because of the fact that the nerves are killed, but somehow I don't believe it. How on earth did that happen?

5. It was very small
I was pulling something out of the toaster oven, and the heating element was still red and I accidentally bumped it. The element must have been about 500 degrees because I nearly burned all the flesh off my knuckle.

It hurt like hell, I still very much had nerve endings.

9. I didn't *burn* anything,
but an innocent chocolate-date loaf got undercooked, collapsed on itself, and had to be finished in the microwave.

14. Haha...
I had actually burned it before Christmas, using my last blank cd, but one of the tracks got fucked up somehow and I had to wait until I got home where I had more blanks, haha. It was supposed to be a gift for a friend, but she has to wait until I get back to the city now.

23. The usual... I burn everything
My local fire department would be ever so grateful if I learned to appreciate eating out.

I just ruined another pot last night... it wasn't even a month old yet. At least I didn't set fire to anything this time.

Am I the only one that's in the habit of taking the batteries out of all the smoke detectors as a general rule before going into the kitchen?
