The weather itself doesn't seem as bad as last week, but we're just halfway into the storm now. But I think anyone who has to drive anywhere this time is having a much harder time. All the new snow doesn't really have anywhere to go but on the old snow.
I hope anyone who has to go out has a safe trek. Safe home, as they used to say.

No one I ever knew used that phrase, but I really liked it, so now I keep it handy when people need to be out in the nasty weather.
Safe home, as they used to say Keep a weather eye to the chart on high And go home another way

11. Well, we got about two inches or so in northwest NM. |
|
It's still overcast and coming down a bit. I just hope it clears up by Tuesday, I have to drive to Albuquerque and then fly back to Chicago.

use Afrin nasal spray the day before, the day of and the day after travel. It'll help with the pressure problems you'll face flying.

20. The cold is worse than the snow |
|
I went out to shovel, and it's really windy. As a result, there's another big snowdrift outside my garage like last time. We've gotten one car out, but we might not go anywhere because our street is sheer ice. Still, much less snow than last time, but way colder. My fingers were red when I came in, and that's after I tried two different pairs of gloves to try and keep warm. The wind chill is five, but I've been way colder in Canada.

22. Try being in Toronto when it's -35 |
|
The first year I went to school there we didn't see temps above -20 for two months. They put up signs warning the foreign students who had never seen snow to be sure and wear a heavy coat and not to accept any dares to put a part of their body to a piece of frozen metal. They also said that if we see a homeless person out at night and it's below -20, don't talk to them, but call 911 immediately because they're probably mentally ill (to be out in weather like that) and that if they fall asleep they would probably die. The first night it snowed, a Pakistani kid on our floor ran outside at 2am because he'd never seen it snow before. We ambushed him with a bunch of snowballs
