I was standing outside the fitness center I go to talking to a woman and we hear this guy coming down the sidewalk cursing up a storm.

He gets to us and he looks at the woman and is saying "what the fuck you looking at b****, etc. Then he looks at me and says something similar and starts toward me. He was a big guy, early 30's, obviously wired for sound. I stepped back a few paces and she walked off to her car. He continued to cuss at me and I pulled out my phone and called 911. He walked off cursing and all. This is right by the ER of a hospital since the fitness center is part of the hospital. He yelled he was going to the ER.

The cops came 30 min later after I'd given up. I called hospital security and walked to the ER to see if I could see him there without luck.

If I'd had a Taser, would it have done any good?

Maybe?

I'm pretty used to talking to threatening people and talking them down because I've done that most of my working life in psychiatry. But this guy was irrational as hell, had no idea what weapons he had, etc.

What would you have done? I'm 45 and not interested in getting in fights with 30 year old cranked up guys that could probably kick my ass thank you very much.

I'm a lover not a fighter these days!

Well, do you mean mentally or physically? I'm in bed with a fever at the moment...trying to keep my husband's relatives out of the designated quarantine area (his aunt had the nerve to ask if she could come into the bedroom)*sigh*. I'm tempted to go out and mingle...making them all sick to prove my point, but then they'd be too sick to return home on Jan. 4th.

So, the answer to your question..I guess...is no. Sorry.
