I decided to take Sebastian Cattbutt to meet The Great Spirit
I just got back from checking in and feeding him. His skin is irriatated from urine, losing fur. This is not my catt, just a shadow of a once devil me care kitten. I preety much feel he is on the line between being uncomfortable and suffering. I am gonna try to keep him going through the weekend till his vet gets back in town. (she comes to my house) but I have a back-up vet.

May the Great Spirit give me strength and guidance to the Cattbutt.

DDQM- Send me songs........

1. My sincere condolences.
Early last year we had to make that decision for our dear old friend Bela Blasko. Bela was a big, gentle, friendly cat that I was left with me "temporarily" by an ex-fiance almost 7 years ago. He developed a brain tumor, and in spite of our best efforts, a bad secondary infection in his ear. Finally, the pressure on his eyes were such that he was blind, and when the infection got out of control we both went with him to the vet and held him as he was put down.

We miss him SO much. We have four other cats, but he was unique.

-Ben

2. This really came on suddenly didn't it?
I'm really sorry to hear that. I think that from what you've told me and what I have read here that is the best decision, he doesn't need to suffer.

4. You have my sympathy
I'm sending you strength and guidance through my thoughts. Two years ago my 22 year old kitty named Angus was really sick, and I couldn't wait for the vet to come back from his holidays. So we took her (I know female doesn't go with the name Angus - but that's a different story) to the animal hospital to have her put to sleep. That was the hardest thing to do - but I think it was the right thing to do. I still miss but I have her ashes and a picture in the living room.

Keep well and take care.

6. I am SO sorry to hear this
:grouphug:

My thoughts are with you as you make this most difficult decision. I know that you will do what is right and best for him. I know you love him immensely, and he knows that too.

All best wishes to you. I have my Chester in the hospital now as we speak - he is not doing well either.

Please take care and know we're all thinking of you.

7. Thanks
and good karma and hugs to you and Chester. I just try and keep thinking that the great spirit needs a new cat to paw at his dinner plate. The Cattbutt would literally balance on his hind legs and reach as far as he could to get his paw into my mashed potatos. It became a game after awhile.

Take care

9. ahhh, that's hard....
It's great that you vet will come to your house-- that minimizes the stress for Sabastian. Getting all teary thinking about the good feline friends I've outlived over the years. Hang in there-- it's hard but it's the right thing to do to ease your friend's passage.

11. Oh, that sucks. I have had to do that twice, and it was hard
But harder still to look at my friend in pain. Cats go to a better place, this I have to believe.

12. I'm so sorry.
Went thru it with Tillie (You Bitch) about three years ago. She was 17, and her systems just started shutting down too. Took me three calls to even be able to tell the vet's office why I was calling--I kept on crying too hard to talk.

We have a new guy ruling the roost, he's black and sleek and a real athlete. He also loves out daughter dearly. He sleeps on her bed and will run to the door when she comes home. THAT is a real change since Tillie never did like kids much.

I swear I still see her out of the corner of my eye from time to time. Especially when I'm making chicken for dinner.

They are wonderful creatures who give us love and entertainment all in one furry body. The only way we can repay that is by letting them go when the time comes, and you have tried very hard to keep him comfortable and cared for.

Peace be on you, and as soon as you feel its comfortable open your heart to another kitty. Amazingly, we do have the capacity to love another.

I'll send whatever strength and good vibes I can as well...that is the hardest thing in the world!

I, too, have a vet that comes to the house so the other animals know what happened to their mate and can sniff and say their goodbyes.
