First, a loop around Key Biscayne, then to and through Everglades National Park, and back - in S Florida, with co-members of the Everglades Bicycle Club

Chain cleaned and lubed. Tires pumped to 140 psi. Sunscreen on.

Heading out the door at 5:30 est.

:hi:

Thanks.

11. Whoa, Mika! Good for you. You are already one conditioned guy.
I don't think there are many among us who get as much exercise as you do.

Still opting to ride your bike to work? Wish more people did.

Good luck, good weather, and have a great trip. Sounds absolutely WONDERFUL. The scenic route!

18. Thanks. Yes, still ride to work every day.
I usually keep my car in the lot at work.

Beautiful route. 20 mph headwind on the way back. Some rain showers.

One has to be lean, healthy, and in good shape to attempt a ride like that. Its taken a year (and over 12000 miles in the last year) to get to that point.

Thanks

15. Good luck! What SPF sunscreen?
Is it the "all-day" kind or the kind you have to put on every 90 minutes?

22. 50 SPF Banana Boat all day, "no tears" for babies.
Its works the best for me.

30 SPF lip balm too.

24. Some Day I'd Like To Do That
I can maybe ride 30 or more miles without pain now. 180?

I may need new knees before that.

I love to cycle though!

good luck

25. That's great. DO WHATEVER YOU CAN!
Cycling is addicting because it gives one such a freeing feeling, and reminds me of my youth.

26. It Is! I Do A Lot Of Riding On A Stationary Bike At The Gym
they have some pretty good ones that are very much like riding a real bike and they have heart rate monitors on them, etc.

I also do other low impact but high cardio exercises there.

I want to get a road bike, I've got a hybrid (mountain/road) that is pretty good for riding around, but it isn't good for mountain biking and it really isn't good for long rides.

So, that is what I'm aiming for, getting in good enough shape to ride a ways, join a riding club and take off!

27. Yes. Do join a local club.
Its a great place to meet a wide range of people at all levels of fitness. You'll meld in with people who are doing what you're doing - plus it is great to have company on the longer rides. I've met quite a few very nice people in my local club.

Do it.
