1. That's an interesting story. I'm surprised the moose hasn't hurt anyone. |
|
But I guess if everyone is happy, it must be okay.

it's pathetic that people hunt them, when for the most part you could walk right up to them and shoot them. The most deadly they get is when it's mating season or you run into one of them with your vehicle, which will most likely total it and possibly you as well.

6. Wouldn't wanna be standing in a stream and notice you're between cow and calf |
|
Moose mommas take the job seriously. Couple pals of mine had to run for their lives on a nice peaceful fly fishing day
They usually are gentle giants though.

2. That moose looks so darn friendly! |
|
But if he thinks he belongs with the cows, will he try to mate with them?

8. Havocdad says the males stay near kin for a couple years, so the moo cows are family |

for now.
Was looking at the picture of the moose in the hat and figuring he probably was cruious about the hat the man wears. May have been a case of give the moose a hat in order to keep one's own! They seem to be pretty inquisitive critters. And a youngster, even one that big, is bound to be a bit playfull.
I like the picture (from link) of the moose gnoshing from a big tub on the deck of the house with the woman, kids and dogs all at hand. BIG doggie!
There was a moose a few years ago who was totaly smitten by a farmer's cow. Followed her, protected her and didn't seem dissuaded by her lack of romantic fevor for him. Was pretty amazing.
They must be fairly intelligent animals; they seem to have a sense of humor! Look at the eyes of that lad in the picture. He has a spark of mischief about him.
They are tasty too. MMMMM, moose roast:P

someone would tell the back-story on the lounge/yak thing. And the lounge/llama thing. And all the other little obscure in-joke references not everyone understands. Because I sit and think about this stuff, and with regard to the yak thing, I got nuthin.

5. Near as I can figure, ZombieWoof started the yak attack |
|
Why? Don't know actually, but possibly just because it is a silly word and an amusing, hardy animal.
One can have a lot of fun with the work yak. It has held up well around here. Maybe when Zombie and Nini get back on-line after the wedding yesterday they will tell us the story of the DU Yak.
